Curiosity Field Notes

Field note 03

Make a small practice worth repeating

Build a hobby around an easy starting point.

A new hobby often begins with a burst of enthusiasm and too many plans. Instead of deciding how good you want to become, decide what a small session could look like this week.

Make the first step visible

Leave a sketchbook on a desk, bookmark one lesson or write down a short piece of music to practice. Choose an activity that fits the time and supplies you already have.

Repeat a useful question

Ask what you tried, what changed and what you would repeat next time. Keep the notes brief. Three specific sentences can be more useful than a long account of everything you did.

Leave space to change your mind

After a few sessions, decide whether you want to continue, try a different approach or explore another hobby. Curiosity does not require turning every interest into a commitment.
